Basmati in Hindi means “Queen of fragrance” for its unmistakable aroma. The great diversity of the famous scented Basmati rice is the result of the selection carried out over the centuries by Indian and Pakistani farmers. Today they are grown in many parts of the world, but the best types are found at the foot of the Himalayas, where Basmati was born.

The PARBOILIZED PROCESS is one of the oldest that history has handed down and it seems to have been introduced in India to keep the rice al dente for the farmers who went to work in the fields: the raw rice was soaked in cold water, then cooked for a short time and finally dried in the sun. The process has not changed in its principles but has been progressively combined with modern technologies and adopted throughout the world and allows the rice grains to remain well separated and soft. In fact, Blond has always been synonymous with rice that is always al dente and a guarantee of quality. We were among the first companies to introduce parboiled rice in Italy, the “blond” rice that gave its name to the Blond line, which satisfies all needs in the kitchen. Thanks to the natural steam treatment, Riso Gallo Blond never overcooks and allows for quick cooking that adapts to many preparation methods. Furthermore, it absorbs less fat from the seasoning during cooking.
