Description
Tortiglioni are one of the many variations of macaroni, one of the oldest formats born in Naples.
Their name naturally refers to the format and derives from the Vulgar Latin tortillare which literally means to wrap in a spiral with a characteristic design from the lathe.
They are a particularly versatile and at the same time original format, which traditionally prefers full-bodied sauces.
Tortiglioni are excellent when seasoned with succulent meat-based ragù. They are also good when accompanied by tomato sauce or vegetable and tomato sauces. It is a particularly suitable format also for baked pies.
